South Stanley Junior School wins national Times Table Rockstars

In this week's Times Tables Rock Stars 'England Rocks' competition, pupils from South Stanley Juniors went head-to-head with children from nearly 4,500 schools around the country. All of the classes worked extremely hard across the three days, posting some fantastic scores, but one Year 6 group - 'Forster's Fanatics' - blew away the opposition and came in first place nationwide!

These multiplication masters managed to answer, on average, a staggering 12,941 questions correctly across their three hours of competition. This was nearly 1,500 more than the class in second place!

An incredible achievement and we are extremely proud of this dedicated, resilient and talented group of children.

Cory: It's exhilarating to be the champions! I've never won a tournament before so to be the top class in England is amazing.

Jacob: The key is to stay focused and don't rush - and know your times tables!

Jessie: We have been encouraging each other a lot. We're always prepared for the next question, even when we're typing an answer!

Taylor: Thank you to Mr. Forster, Mr. Patterson and the other staff for their hard work and helping us to get better at our times tables.

Mr. Forster: We could not be prouder of these fantastic pupils! Their efforts in mastering their times tables have been second-to-none and, as our 'multiplication masters', they also support lots of children around school with TT. This is truly well-deserved and a fitting reward for their hard work.

Credit must also go to Mr. Patterson, who has been the driving force behind our excellent times tables results over the last two years, and the rest of the staff for their efforts each day in the classroom to support our children. A huge well done to everyone involved!
